Operator Norm-Based Statistical Linearization to Bound the First Excursion Probability of Nonlinear Structures Subjected to Imprecise Stochastic Loading

This paper presents a highly efficient approach for bounding the responses and probability of failure nonlinear models subjected to imprecisely defined stochastic Gaussian loads. Typically, such computations involve solving nested double-loop problem, where propagation aleatory uncertainty has be performed each realization epistemic parameters. Apart from near-trivial cases, computation is generally intractable without resorting surrogate modeling schemes, especially in context performing dynamical simulations. The recently introduced operator norm framework allows breaking this double loop by determining those values uncertain parameters that produce bounds on priori. However, method its current form only applicable linear due adopted assumptions derivation involved norms. In paper, extended generalized statistical linearization methodology account systems. Two case studies are included demonstrate validity efficiency proposed approach.
